There is very interesting equation editor in abiword plugins too (libAbiMathView.so) It is depends from libgtkmathview and libmathview_frontend_libxml2. Generally it is allow to work with MathML and LaTeX equations. Both form is saved in *.abw file and can be edited later in LaTeX form (unlike inkscape plugin). http://www.cs.unibo.it/helm/mml-widget/ There are not only GTK backend but SVG too. -- Alexey G.
