Hi, This seems specific to Mandriva. I've built a snapshot of http://www.scribus.net/temp/scribus-1.3.3.10svn-16.1.i586.rpm and testing with this does not show the issue on Mdk 2007.1 I had filed a bug on Mandrake's packaging of Scribus which has for a long time had some missing compile dependencies.
