[Scribus] Pre-use question about Scribus and a certain PNG image

Can anyone help me figure out and fix why when I export the PDF file in
Acrobat to EPS or PS, then import it into Scribus, the spaces (spacebar)
between the words disappears and the words run together?  Am I not doing
something correctly in the export to EPS step (just using default settings)
