[Scribus] Inserting unicode glyphs on Linux

Normally I do Ctrl-Shift-u, then type the hex code, then the spacebar,
and the unicode glyph is inserted. This works everywhere on my Linux
computer, but not in Scribus 1.3.3.8 on Ubuntu Feisty. Have I missed
something, or is this not yet implemented?
