Dear Tom, I recommend compiling Scribus yourself on your MacBook for better responsiveness. I guess, this is mainly for the reason, that AquaScribus is PPC only, no Intel. Using Fink you compile your own Intel app. On the stable branch you get version 1.3.3.9 which works great, switching to unstable you obtain 1.3.4 - which did not work well for me yet.
