[Scribus] Scribus running very slow

compiled scribus1.3.5svn
It runs very slowly compared to 1.3.4 and the previous 1.3.3.10
The properties dialog  (all dialogs) takes from 3-4 seconds to appear as does
the story editor.
What has changed please.
I run Linux FC8 on an intel P4 1 gig memory with a Geforce Ti9200 graphics card.
System monitor reports 30-55 percent memory use for 16 pages greyscale and 
colour.
Dual CPU running at 30 percent - maxes at 70 percent if I move things around on
a page.
