Something similar happens with text frames.
Richard, My next update of the scribus package on the Scribus Archive repositories will have a fix for this. If you use our repos then you'll be in a good shape. If you don't want or cant then just pull the vnd.scribus.desktop file from svn and put it into /usr/share/mimelnk/application and replace the scribus.desktop file in /usr/share/applications with the version from svn.
