In Scribus', case possibly, but there are other apps which will break. Uniconverter < 1.1.3 has problems with python 2.6. So, in the original poster's case, the best option is to use my packages which are both i586 and 64 bit for mandriva: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/mrdocs/Mandriva_2009/ Peter
