For the normal means of instaling packages in ubuntu, you probably have two installations, scribus and scribus-ng (unstable series for testing) Open your terminal shell (consola) so you could check if there is really these two executables (typing scribus and/or scribus-ng) If so, just create a short-cut in your desktop to call the version you want to work with. Anyway, I think you also have the option of reisntall the stable version throught DEB repositories, using sudo apt-get install scribus In the terminal shell Hope this helps.
