That does the job. Selecting the text makes a difference. That step wasn't mentioned in the tutorial, so I had no idea to perform it. Thanks for the lesson! Interestingly, the opacity has effect in the Scribus working window and in the exported PDF file, but does not take effect in the Print Preview window. Is that correct behavior? --Richard
