Well in my *Ubuntu* I have to run qtconfig-qt4 and set the appearance, "Window background" For demonstration purposes, see this screen shot; http://members.pcug.org.au/~rcook/images/Scribus_SickBlue.png where I have set the Window background to a "sickly blue" HTH -- Owen
