Another problem with these queries is that when you reply to the originator, Cc the scribus list, a further response from the originator is directed towards the responder, not the scribus list.

I do have it installed. It turns out the problem is with a ghostscript font. Since scribus depends on ghostscript, I can see why scribus fails. If I run gs form the command line, I get gs -q -dNOPAUSE -dNODISPLAY -dBATCH -dDELAYBIND -g2448x3168 -r288 -dTextAlphaBits=4 -dGraphicsAlphaBits=4 -c 0 0 translate -sTraceFile=/sdb3/home/jd/.scribus//ps.out -sExportFiles=/sdb3/home/jd/Document--NavaratriBrahmotsvam2009-final /usr/lib/scribus/import.prolog /sdb4/Home/jd/Misc/pdf/NavaratriBrahmotsvam2009-final.pdf -c flush cfile closefile quit Fontmap entry for Fontmap.local ends prematurely! Giving up. Fontmap.local is provided by the ghostscript package, which is installed: $ locate Fontmap.local /etc/ghostscript/8.71/Fontmap.local So, I really do not understand why gs bitches about it's own font!!! -- Owen
