Larry, When you've put the photo in, you can then right click and choose 'fit image to frame' from the drop-down menu. I also had trouble last time I installed GIMP. I had to hire someone to look at the problem and he discovered that you needed another program from Windows to get it to work. I was quite surprised by this, I don't even have Windows as my operating system but he got it to work that way. I wish I could tell you what that program was but I'm not at my home computer at the moment. Let me know if that'd be helpful and I can send it along later today.
