Even for someone who has pretty intimate knowledge of the file format, editing a document this way would be a headache and fraught with problems. Furthermore, once you might figure out something, it has a lifetime dependent on when the format might change in a way that breaks the method. Better to learn the various copying, pasting, importing of pages, objects, styles, and so on. Greg
