Understood, but Scribus 1.5.0 is the only reliable Open Source program that will produce valid PDF/x 1-a:2001. There is a TeX routine that will patch the labels in the pdf file but it doesn't check or change the content of the file AFAIK. Instead of page at a time importing of single pdf pages I have the alternative of redoing the whole book in Scribus. That has some side advantages.
