As it happens in this case the contents of the envelope were an Invoice from LSI and a check covering the invoice from me. So the window envelope trick won't work. I explored earlier and found I had created a subdirectory named with the name of my template, tenenvelope.sla. The contents of that directory were: AGaramond-Italic.afm -rw------- 1 safe users 67357 2011-01-11 12:23 AGaramond-Italic.pfb -rw-r--r-- 1 safe users 19444 2011-01-11 12:23 Document-1 -rw-r--r-- 1 safe users 15734 2011-01-11 09:57 Document-1.sla -rw------- 1 safe users 21626 2011-01-11 12:23 c0632bt_.afm -rw------- 1 safe users 33799 2011-01-11 12:23 c0632bt_.pfb -rw------- 1 safe users 19764 2011-01-11 12:23 c0648bt_.afm -rw------- 1 safe users 34869 2011-01-11 12:23 c0648bt_.pfb -rw-r--r-- 1 safe users 822 2011-01-11 12:23 template.xml -rw-r--r-- 1 safe users 3630 2011-01-11 12:23 tenenvelope.sla.png -rw-r--r-- 1 safe users 672 2011-01-11 12:23 tenenvelope.slatn.png The text of my return address etc. was only found in Document-1 Which was in fact in .sla format. Clearly when I created the template I messed up somehow. It is not as intuitive as I thought.
