With some playing around just now, I see that if I set the border to None _and_ color to None, then view the form in Adobe Reader, the background has a pale blue color and on mouse over a border appears. On printing the form, there is no background color or border printed. In Adobe Reader, at least, the appearance of the text field has settings under Edit > Preferences > Forms. What prints out is determined by Scribus. Not sure if this is what you're trying to achieve. Greg
