Well, you say OpenSuse; at software.opensuse.org you can search for qt5 - there is plenty of qt5-packages in unofficial repositories. I can't test installing qt5 on my laptop (travelling right now), but I'd bet that a parallel install with qt4 should be feasible. PS: a bunch of software is going qt5 these days, fx. Stellarium.
