I just (about a month ago) installed Scribus on Mavericks and got all the dependencies from macports ( http://www.macports.org ). I think (although I can't remember precisely) I did it by installing scribes with
sudo port install scribus to install all the dependencies and then removing scribus with sudo port uninstall scribus and installing it from the dmg (so that I could find it with cmd + space).
