Greg, a.le., Rolf-Werner,

Please ignore the manual issue for the problem at hand. In hindsight, it was my 
dying PC that couldn't handle the available RAM anymore (or the RAM module was 
broken, whatever).

Regarding Rolf-Werner's problem, it *may* be a Scribus bug, but chances are it 
isn't. As has already been mentioned, it could also be a bug in the RIP. 
Moreover, InDesign's PDF export is full of font-related bugs, some of which are 
almost a decade old, and there's no fix in sight. Of course, Adobe offers a 
workaround: buy or rent Acrobat, which may or may not resolve your problems ;)

Rolf-Werner, I suggest you file a bug report and let Andreas research what went 
wrong.
