In that case, Scribus is doing what it's supposed to do. Try setting up your style in OpenOffice, then when it imports, Scribus should import your style. If you need to, go to the Style manager and then edit the imported style as desired. This should retain your italics, which amount to a Character Style applied to portions of your text. This sounds like it should be fixable. Play with a few paragraphs in various ways. Greg
