There is in the 1.5.x versions (developmental) an ability to import MSpub files. I haven't tested this, but your 1.5.x has had to have been compiled with the necessary libraries to do this. Scribus can import Word documents, BUT formatting will be lost, so just the text is imported. What is recommended there is to use LibreOffice to take the Word document and convert to ODT format so that Scribus can then import styles. For Scribus, 1200 pages, especially with pictures, would likely need to be broken up into smaller files, creating smaller PDFs, then stitching them together to one big PDF. There are various utilities to do that. Greg
