You could export to PDF then open and print the PDF.
I usually do it that way anyhow, so that I can check the result on screen before actually printing my document on paper.

I don't know about Macs, but I use Fedora, and for several years now I have to 
use the Alternative Printer Command, which for Linux is

lpr -P'PrinterName'

If I try to print without this, my printer puts out a mostly black page.
