Dear Maarten, and others, My biggest problem is, that this is a hobby and I do it at home. And I live in a small village, with no high-speed internet, just a POTS dialup (thanks for that) or a similarly slow GSM/.GPRS connection. And this STUPID STUPID STUPID world, including the OS community, simply assumes that . I don't believe this at all - why, this plainly excludes all the 3rd world from, and that's the vast majority of potential developers! I tried, honestly. Downloaded the "net installation" of lyx, 73MB, in true belief, this is all I need. Even made a trial installation; unfortunately on a machine which is online (so I didn't notice the background downloads). Now I am trying it and it complains of lack of MiKTEX packages. I am browsing now for more than a hour and cannot get a simple download site for those packages (I assume they are huge but am willing to go to a highspeed access place and get it from there and bring it home on a CD or DVD). This is a deadlock and I cannot afford to spend more time and resources on this case. I assumed I will spend some time getting into quirks of LYX, and here I am again, browsing for those gold nuggets of real information scattered accross the net... And the same I assume will be the case when I try to set up for SDCC compilation. I just hope, the SDCC community will never go this stupid way. I am very disappointed. Sorry. JW PS. In these situations, one starts to appreciate the wiki approach truly... PS2 originally I wanted to ask, why ver 1.3, the wiki says the LYX at compile farm is 1.44...? PS3. and of course I don't have the slightest idea what does it take to "create a patch", notabene "with context".... ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
