Well, there's a bit of a story behind that. I will try to be brief
since it's very much off-topic.
I found myself in need of a newer desktop machine, as Apple seems to
go to great lengths to ensure that each successive release of OS X is
slower and fatter for PPC machines.
I decided to build a "hackintosh", or an OS X machine not built by
Apple, using commodity PC parts (though high-end ones) that have been
verified as being compatible with OS X. I built a big, bad Core i7
machine with a very fast system disk, a serious graphics card, and a
respectable amount of memory.
When I got the system put together, I didn't have an OS X DVD burned
from the image file yet, so I decided to throw a temporary copy of
Ubuntu 11.04 on it just to test the hardware.
The performance amazed me, so I played with it for a couple of days.
It worked SO well, and was SO fast, that I just left Ubuntu installed
on it.
I've since gotten it set up just the way I want it, with very few
exceptions, and I'm very happy with it.
I still have an OS X laptop (typing on it now, Macbook Air) so I'm
not abandoning OS X, but for my primary desktop machine, I've very
quickly found that Linux is a faster and more productive choice for me.
