You are right, my previous post was misleading and did not express what I wanted to say: The #define that maps RB0 to PORTBbits.RB0 is in the header file way down. The compiler translates PORTBbits to _PORTBbits for namespace separation reasons. _PORTBbits does not occur in any source file but is emitted by the compiler instead of (or in addition to) PORTBbits.
