Hi Oliver eZ Publish 4.0 is indeed basically 3.10 on PHP5 feature wise. However, we are changing parts of the API too and laying the ground for the integration of eZ Components
A major task is now further refactoring of the code to increase speed, yet maintaining a smooth upgrade path. We will release more frequently updates until the final release as well.
