Hi, I mentioned this to Thomas Klausner on YAPC::EU but I think I better raise the idea here too.
One of the ideas behind Padre, the Perl IDE is to make it easy to create domain specific add-ons (plugins) to make it easier to write application in that domain. For example the Web GUI people are building a plug-in ( see http://blog.patspam.com/2009/padrepluginwebgui ) to make it easy for people to build web site on WebGUI. I don't know SDL at all so I don't know what could make it easier for beginners but if some of you are interested in starting such a plugin I'd be happy to help.
