I second Jarrod on the value of Ignite… though I don't think I found it as
stressful as he did.  Of course I didn't so much as prepare my talk as have it
thrust upon me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgY1u6lkLGU

I recently did an ignite talk for the first time and highly recommend it. It's
stressful, nerve wracking, makes you want to vomit the entire day of, and
requires a load of planning and practice. But you learn a lot and is fun to do.

I'm not an expert, you can see me lose track of slide timing and do a little
dance during my ignite talk at fluent, but if anyone is interested and wants a
few "lessons learned" please hit me up.

Ignite is back for SD Tech Week!

After a hiatus, Ignite San Diego is back for SD Tech Week. We are currently
taking talk ideas - called 'sparks' - for Ignite San Diego 3, which will happen
on Wednesday, July 10th, 2013, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at digital-telepathy,
who is sponsoring this awesome event.

What's a 'spark'? It's a 5-minute talk accompanied by 20 fixed slides (meaning
each slide is up for 15 seconds, no more and no less). To see the sparks from
Ignite San Diego 2 and get an idea of what the talks are like, visit our
YouTube page.

We will be accepting spark submissions until Tuesday, June 25th. Speakers will
be announced and tickets will go on sale on Thursday, June 27th.

So don't be shy - let us know what you'd like to talk about!

Looking forward to your submissions,
The Ignite San Diego Team
