Hey SDRuby, this is right up your alley, too.

---

The jQuery conference <http://events.jquery.org/2014/san-diego/> is coming
to San Diego in February! JQCon is one of the most respected web tech
conferences and it's a privilege to be able to host them in our city.

This is the best and easiest opportunity a lot of us will have to get our
names out there, to interact with who's who in the web, to promote your
companies, and to show the rest of the country what San Diego can offer
when it comes to technology.

The call for
papers<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1LlARkHdbnlZZPGWcTyshI2sFi8wGfTlPcNpsEcWtY4M/viewform>ends
November 10th (two days from now), and they have just over 30
proposals in. This is barely enough for one track and means that your
ability to talk in front of an elite crowd has never been better. If they
get enough quality proposals Adam also said that a second track is easily
on the table.

The jQuery conference is *not strictly about jQuery*, it is everything
around client development, including building, serving, and writing it.
Don't assume your idea is not a topic worth proposing.

*You don't need to be an expert to speak*. Speaking makes you an expert. We
will help out with slides, collaboration, slide software, educational
materials, everything you need to be successful.

*Ideas for proposals (submit here
<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1LlARkHdbnlZZPGWcTyshI2sFi8wGfTlPcNpsEcWtY4M/viewform>):*

   - Data Visualization (d3, svg, canvas)
   - Web Sockets
   - WebRTC
   - WebGL
   - jQuery plugins
   - Mobile Development
   - Angular/Ember/Backbone & their plugins
   - Building JavaScript (grunt, etc)
   - Unit Testing / E2E Testing
   - Using [any library here]
   - Continuous Integration/Delivery
   - Web Components
   - User Experience
   - Design/CSS/SASS/LESS/Stylus
   - Node web frameworks (sails, express, derby, meteor)

Dozens, even hundreds of people in this group do amazing things every day.
This is one of the best opportunities to boost your career and public
recognizability and also make sure the region you're living in grows to
support your career in the future.

Hope to see loads of you all in February!
