Hello all Rubyists and burgeoning functional programmers, This Saturday San Diego's first functional programming conference takes place at the Ansir Innovation center. Read all about it and sign up at: recursd.com.
One of the sessions is: Escaping OO: Using Ruby Functional Prototyping by Michael Bastos It's hard to remain functional when you're working in a purely object oriented world like Ruby, yet with techniques such as prototype development and many others you too can escape the Object Oriented bubble when you need to and return when you don't. Ruby is an imperative language by nature so it can give you functional principles while allowing the programmer to choose when to and when not to support immutability. Hope to see you there!
