You might want to future-proof yourself by looking at

https://github.com/minad/moneta

which tries to isolate you from the key/value DB, such that in the future,
when you want (need) to upgrade to a real database (*cough* Riak *cough*)
it would be easier to do so.  I haven't used it, so Im not sure if its more
trouble than its worth. But something to consider.
