Ben, rails-assets.org looks very interesting, thanks for the link. For some new projects, I am debating on whether to use something like rails-assets.org (or just Bower) and stay in Sprockets-land, or dump the whole asset pipeline and use Webpack (http://webpack.github.io/) to manage all front-end assets. Justin Gordon describes a technique here
http://www.railsonmaui.com/blog/2014/10/02/integrating-webpack-and-the-es6-transpiler-into-an-existing-rails-project/ When Sprockets works, its super convenient. But when it doesn’t, it’s a bit of a black box. I like the idea of my Rails app not knowing or caring about anything on the front end, and having a completely separate, tweakable build process for assets. Webpack even supports things like require-ing not only JS libs, but CSS as well, allowing for a more component-ized approach to the front end. Not to hijack Ben’s thread, but I’d love to hear about anyone’s experiences with rails-assets.org or alternative ways to manage front end assets. -- Regards, John Lynch [email protected] On Sun, Oct 12, 2014 at 5:14 PM, Benjamin Wanicur <[email protected]> wrote: > Howdy > > Wondering how many of you out there have used this site ( > https://rails-assets.org/) ?
