Yes. I don't want the route to employ the category at all. But the page came 
from a form with a category popup, that was not required, so the search form 
might produce a category= argument that's blank. The point is that 
will_paginate is throwing the value into its routing considerations and 
producing a munged-up url from the wrong route generating helper.

Either will_paginate should remove blank arguments when generating its routes, 
or it should give me a way to specify which route helper to use. Or maybe both.
