Hello all you Ruby fans! I hope you all enjoyed the holiday weekend. We are so grateful for those who have paid the ultimate price on our behalf!
It's time for another Meetup, and we'll be meeting this month at LEARN Academy downtown. It's located at 704 J Street, practically across the street from the ballpark. Metered parking downtown is free after 6pm, so you should be able to find a spot. There are also several paid parking lots nearby, if you so choose. We're also still looking for a sponsor for the Meetup and after party. It's the perfect opportunity to get some exposure for your business as well as to support and engage with the SD Ruby community, all for the low price of some drinks and snacks. If you're interested in sponsoring this week, or any time in the future, you can email me directly at [email protected]. RSVP for the Meetup here: https://www.meetup.com/sdruby/events/239656163/ FEATURED TALK FOR MAY: Rob Kaufman, Notch8 - "Rails and Webpack Sitting In a Tree" Rails 5.1 is here and with it come significant improvements to the JavaScript dev environment. We'll take a long walk along the beach covering these new tools and how to use them. LIGHTNING TALKS: Stephen Lampa - "Ruby and Closures" Stephen Lampa guides us through closures in Ruby and how to use them effectively. We still have a few more slots open for lightning talks. Feel free to sign up here: http://bit.ly/1Nsq9g8 (Google Form). Lightning talks are 5 minutes and a great chance to dip your toes in if you've always wanted to talk at SDRuby, but haven't had the chance to yet. RAFFLE We'll be giving away a few ebooks, software licenses, etc, using our super fun Rafflr! AFTER PARTY After the meeting, we'll head out for a round or two of drinks. .... DIRECTIONS Meetings are held at LEARN Academy downtown (704 J Street), at 7:00pm, on the first Thursday of the month. Metered parking downtown is free after 6pm. SPONSOR OR SPEAK AT THE NEXT MEETING Wanna talk at our next meeting? Have a topic you want someone else to talk about? Interested in sponsoring?
