SD Ruby group,

I'm very excited to engage with you. I've just started a new position with
a company called DiversyFund, who is working in the online investment &
real estate crowdfunding space. The investment fund part of the business
has been around for a few years, but their focus on technology is really
just getting started.

*Background:*

My role, as CTO, is to lead product and engineering and help this business
re-platform and launch a new product. My goal is to build a mature
engineering team in San Diego to help this fintech business execute and
grow.

There are many reasons that I'm excited about this opportunity. Here are
just a few of them:

   - It represents a chance to show San Diego and the rest of the world
that San Diego is capable of launching strong tech companies
   - After helping Los Angeles-based PeerStreet
   <https://info.peerstreet.com/2017/12/18/year-end-press-highlights/> (15M
Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz) build a very similar product, I'm
ready to help DiversyFund build out their platform
   - I was blown away by the richness of the Rails ecosystem (used at
PeerStreet) and want to replicate that approach here in San Diego
   - We have a chance to build this team and platform from the ground up

*The team:*

We'll be starting with two key hires - both senior level - with one having
a front-end specialty

and the other having a DevOps/infrastructure specialty
<https://angel.co/diversyfund/jobs/347047-senior-full-stack-engineer-devops-infrastructure-specialty>.

Over the course of the year, we'll be growing that team to around 8 with
additional hires in development (full-stack), QA (emphasis on automation),
UX and product.

*The company:*

DiversyFund was incorporated in 2016. The two co-founders have worked in
private real estate investing for over 20 years and saw regulations changes
and an opportunity to use technology to expand their business to internet
investors. The regulations have continued to change and the next frontier
for our business is opening up our platform to non-accredited investors.

*The product:*

While there is an existing product, our team will be replacing it
entirely. We'll be modeling the product after several successful
investment platforms, like PeerStreet, Fundrise and LendingClub. This
consists of the following major areas:

   - Account signup and onboarding
   - Bank account linking and fund transfers
   - Investment shopping cart
   - Investor dashboard
