*Well it worked that time.... Here we go SD Ruby: *

*Established Marketing Tech company is looking to hire a mid-sr level rails
dev. *

Greetings fellow rubyists!

I’m the CTO of a company called Hello Bar and we provide a suite of lead
gen tools for customers ranging from new bloggers all the way up to some of
the biggest brands out there. We are a small team that gets a lot done and
we have a good time doing it.

We’re looking to add a new member to the team in our downtown office to
work alongside me and the rest of the team on a project that has some real
scale. Our system displays over a billion lead capture impressions each
month, sends tens of millions of web push notifications (growing by several
million per month) and collects over a billion emails per year for our
customers.

We’re utilizing all the of the cool AWS tools including Lambda and other
serverless tech.

Our dev team is spread out across the globe and you would be the first
local member, in-office (besides me). You’ll have a big hand in everything
that we do and it’s pretty exciting work. We ship code to production every
day.

OUR STACK:

   -

Two distinct applications, both similar in structure
   -

   Rails 4.2 backend
   -

   JS front ends (Ember.js & Vue.js)
   -

   RDS (mysql & postgres) db’s
   -

All kinds of AWS services including the obvious ec2, S3, etc but also
some of the more fun ones like Lambda, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, etc
   -

   Some Heroku
   -

   Node.js for the Lambda functions
   -

   95%+ test coverage

REQUIRED SKILLS:

   -

   4+ years professional ruby experience
   -

Equally as strong JS skills (front end and server side)
   -

   Experience with serverless architecture
   -

Teamwork skills, comfortable with agile methodology
   -

Comfortable in a fast moving environment
   -

   Believer in comprehensive specs

WHAT’S IT LIKE HERE?:

We are in a nice office in Symphony Towers, downtown San Diego. There are
lots of great places to eat nearby and we share an office with a marketing
company that is also owned by the owners of Hello Bar. That means that it’s
a fun, exciting environment with lots of nice people around. Hello Bar
consists of six other people here in the office and we’re all food-loving,
dog-appreciating (just not in the office unfortunately), travel aficionados
who like to work together to get things done. The team in the office
consists of myself, product, marketing and customer success teammates.

We’re actually moving into a new office in this building on Feb 1st that
will give us more room and more plush accommodations too.

We’re not VC backed either. We’re profitable and stable and here to stay.

COMPENSATION:

   -

   Competitive salary dependent on experience
   -

Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and life
insurance benefits (100% coverage for employees)
   -

   Unlimited paid time off
   -

Fully paid parking downtown near our offices
   -

   Company matching 401k program.
   -

Fully stocked kitchen with breakfast, snacks drinks and everything else
   you could want
   -

Kombucha and cold brew coffee on tap (+ an espresso machine)
