but why would they bring the cup back to pittsburgh? wherever it goes
this year is just a rest stop before it makes it permanent home in

Re: (313) Coldplay/Kraftwerk (again)

2006-02-18 Thread Will Web
Actually the Francois K and Junkie XL mixes have been out for a while.
Junkie XL was my favorite, but the new mix by Thin White Duke is the
bangger. The Dave Aude mix is your usual California dubby house track that
he is famous for, not my cup of tea but worth checking out if you like that
kind of stuff.

I didnt read the thread, so Im not sure if it was finalized but that is
acctually an OFFICIAL remix done by Francois K. Should be out next week.

If this is old news, sorry... I just had to be my normal know-it-all self,
I guess.

Hope everyone is well!!

Re: (313) Juan Atkins Up For A Grammy

2006-01-12 Thread Will Web
Besides qualifying to become a member, you must also cough up a bunch of
cash every year to get voting rights and the other perks?. I would love
to see Juan walk up on that stage and win an award, but until they give him
credit by winning for best ELECTRO/Techno record what's the point. The
uneducated masses don't know electro from hip-hop from Jazz and probably
never will. What would be great is if he wins he could go up and blast the
audience with a quick dose of knowledge like The music Industry sucks and
you are all sheep!!!. Only problem with that is, he's not Kanye West so no
one would even listen.

yeah, just to clarify

How do I qualify to become a Voting member?
You need to have creative or technical credit on a minimum of six tracks
(or their equivalent) in at least one voting discipline and the album must
have been commercially released in the United States. Qualifying tracks
can

be on one album or a combination of albums. In the music video and craft
categories you must have at least six commercial or promotional
videos/albums released in the United States.

Who does not qualify as a Voting member?
Applicants who are credited as Executive Producer, Assistant Producer,
AR,

and Production Coordinators are examples of non-voting categories. If you
think you might not qualify, call Member Services at 310.392.3777 or your
local chapter to discuss your questions.

so it's up to all the members of The Recording Academy that have voting
privileges

sorry Mike - were with you in spirit on this one but I don't think there's
much most of us can do to influence this vote
it's one of those behind closed doors type of things

F me! How depressing a read is that list of nominations, especially the
'dance' ones ... but I press on to find the category I want to vote
in...

(One man's depressant is another's ecstasy, I know.)

2005-10-06 Thread Will Web
I guess I should say goodbye to an old friend. I spent many a day workin in
that room selllin records. Experinces like that cannot bought on vynil. Many
fun times were had with Mr. Huckaby, Mr. Himes and the rest of the crew that
came and went. The dance room was one of the last dinosaurs like alot of us
are in this crazy biz. Get's harder to sell vynil with every day that
passes. Only the true soldiers can keep it alive now!!!

We will be putting out electro and techno from all around the globe as well

Analog To Future (ATF) and is hard hitting in your face electro. The white
labels are available now at On Beat Music http://www.onbeatmusic.com/ , and
the label copies will be at all the major distributors (that are left) by
next week. Hope you all will enjoy a new renisance of music coming from your
south florida friends at Zero One.

Thanks,
