I haven't actually heard 21st century soul - so can't really comment on it. I suppose you could call it overproduced in that the LP doesn't have the roughness or simplicity of say a UR track, but I like his musical ideas - he has lots of good ones - and doesn't let them get out of control, so in that sense I would say that it's not overproduced or noodly - there is some quantity control going on rather than unrestrained noodling. Having said all this, I really like the Offworld LP on Far Out, so maybe my opinions on Jazz Noodling should be taken with a pinch of salt D.
