2016-12-29 Thread Kiran Baug
 Dear Access Indians,

Trust you all are well.

I want to explore the space of stocks and play.

Seek your suggestion on choosing
1. Bank which is acccessible enough to transfer money to DMAT account.
2. Which least brokerage firm DMAT account is accesible.
3. Also i would like to know if any whatsup group or mail groups are
available for the discussion within VI community.

Request learned members to throw some light on the process so that i
can start my investment right.

Thanks and regards,
Kiran.

2016-12-29 Thread shankar shan
hi sazid.
if you ask me, visually impaired people can work on any language accept css.
css is a language which helps the developer to present the document.

but, if the visually impaired has good exposure on the languages
which you mentioned above, they can work like non disableds.

Subject: [AI] Please help regarding basic training in Android with Talks

Dear friends,

It's Rishi Kewalramani here from Bangalore.

All this time I was using Nokia E5. But now I need to switch to Moto X Gen 2
wich I have got.

I am very uncomfortable with the touch screen which I'm sure I will be able
to overcome with some good training.

Face to face training if not over skype would really hehlp me.

So I would really appreciate if anyone in Bangalore who is using an
Android phone with talks comfortably could take out some time to train me on
the same.

I'll come at a place and time of your choosing. So whichever day and timing
and place suits you- I would be really obliged and grateful if I could have
a one to one and face to face training session.

I just want to learn the basic things that I have been using my nokia E5
for which is, making and receiving calls, smsing, typing important notes,
whatsapping, reading things line by line, word by word, character by
character etc, accessing the contacts and entering new ones, sending and
receiving emails, browsing the net, facebook, GPS, using some voice
commands, the important Talks commands and gestures etc.

Even a skype call would do from any part of the world.

You can drop me an email privately, My email id is:

rishi.kewalram...@gmail.com

Thank you very much,

Looking forward for some help please,

Sincere regards,

Rishi

Re: [AI] Strange problem with a PDF file

2016-12-29 Thread Rohiet A. Patil
It's a 28 pages file. I am getting the complete file in OCR but as I
mention, the recognition quality is not so good.

In word pad, how will it look?

hi,
in that case are you sure if the file has further pages? if yess then,
you can try opening the file with word pad, not sure weather it will
work but you can still try, method remains the same, right click and
follow the steps mentioned in my previous mail.

19. (1) The appropriate Government shall formulate schemes and
programmes including
provision of loans at concessional rates to facilitate and support
employment of persons
with disabilities especially for their vocational training and self-employment.

Does this mean that PWDs are going to get cheaper loans in coming
time? If yes, then is this a binding on gov and PSBs and something
like interest subvension scheme is going to be launched like existing
schemes for farmers and students?

[AI] Could someone please help me with a JAWS problem?

2016-12-29 Thread Steve Boodram

Hi All, no matter how much time I reinstall JAWS the programme just won't
start. I
get the message "one or more shared components are missing. Please reinstall
this product in an effort to fix this problem."
I was using JAWS 17 64bit but when I tried to upgrade to JAWS 18 the problem
started. Now not even JAWS 17 or lower won't install.

I am using NVDA to write this email and I don't know how to disable AVG so
uninstalled the antivirus altogether.

Please help me someone.

Thanks a million.

[AI] Talking Scientific Calculator app for iOS available

2016-12-29 Thread Prashant Verma
Talking Scientific Calculator

>From applevis website:
http://www.applevis.com/apps/ios/utilities/talking-scientific-calculator-0

Submitted by Apple Khmer on 25 December, 2016 - 01:32

Description of App:

A comprehensively featured calculator that has become a favorite among
adults and high school students around the world. Designed for a wide range
of users,

this calculator has large colorful buttons, optional high contrast, full
VoiceOver support, and unique to this calculator; the option to use speech
for

answers, buttons names and formulas!

** Regularly featured on "What's Hot" - Utilities

Video demo available from the support link.

Features include:

--

- Can read answers, entered numbers and formulas aloud.

1,234.56 is spoken as "One thousand, two hundred thirty four point five
six."

2 + 3 x 5^2 is spoken as "two plus three multiply five squared."

- Built in recording studio and script. Requires only 5 minutes to record a
new voice. Recordings can be transferred between devices using Bluetooth.

- Two entry modes, Standard and Formula. Standard mode emulates traditional
calculators. Formula mode takes care of the order of operations for you. You

enter a mathematical expression, complete with operators and parentheses
(brackets), tap the = button, and the expression is evaluated.

- The entire app's feature set is accessible to VoiceOver users (using
standard or touch typing input styles) and Switch Control users.

- Unique to this app is an Enhanced VoiceOver Speech mode that pronounces
large numbers and formula with natural language rather than one digit at a
time.

- Supports entry and display of Braille on supported devices (thanks to
assistance from the Washington State School for the Blind.)

- Numeric formatting of results: Max fraction digits (default), fixed
fraction digits (useful for currency calculations), and max significant
digits (useful

for science and engineering lab work), plus international formatting.

- Trigonometric, hyperbolic, logarithmic, permutations, combinations,
factorial, powers, roots, percent and bit-wise operations, conversion
between hexadecimal

and decimal, random numbers.

- Full support for fractions (simple and mixed), conversion to and from
decimal, fraction reduction, and use of fractions with all operators.

- Easy access to basic calculator functions, for those who rarely use
scientific operations.

- Paper log feature, designed particularly for classroom use. Calculations
can be recorded with a timestamp to be viewed and emailed.

- iPads get a user interface designed to make use of the large screen area.
iPhones and iPod Touches get a user interface designed for the smaller
screen.

This includes large, easy to read scientific buttons, accessed on a
scrolling panel. All the features of the iPad version are included in the
smaller design.

Looking for statistics functionality? Check out the companion Talking
Statistics Calculator on the App Store.

Customizable for each level of vision:

Normal to low vision: Large, clear buttons with optional speech.

Low vision: High contrast display mode, with optional speech.

No vision / blind: VoiceOver reads the button names before they are
activated and also calculation results. Entry and display on refreshable
Braille devices.

Switch control accessible. Split-view and Slide-over supported.

Why record new voices?

Having your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch talk with your own voice, or that of
a friend or tutor will make the calculator sound more natural to you. The
calculator

will speak with the accent you are used to hearing.

How good is the sound quality of recorded voices?

Excellent: The microphone in your iPad / iPhone or iPod Touch is of very
good quality, and this calculator performs digital signal processing to
ensure

the audio level is consistent across all recorded words.

Accessibility Comments:

The app seems to work very good and is fully accessible with Voice Over. If

this

might work for you.

Rishi

Re: [AI] I write an Op-Ed in The Hindu today: Excluded from financial inclusion

2016-12-29 Thread avinash shahi
Has anyone shared this op-ed with his/her top management and in bank's
internal lists? friends do it, I'm dam sure we all will be benefited.
Help me in reaching out to as many as people we can reach. The
response from across the country has been very huge. specially from
southern states where The Hindu is in great circulation. Please share
it on your FB and Twitter in large numbers so that more non-disabled
people get to know our real hardships amidst the call of digital
economy and financial inclusion.
