Select Command
Hello TSM'ers, I'm trying to find out my utlization of tapes per client in order to calculate room for expansion next year. Does anyone have a select command to fit? FYI, I'm running TSM 4.2.1 on AIX 4.3.3 Regards, Bassam
AIX Question!
Hello All, I'm came across an issue yesteday, does anyone know a way around deleting a large number of files without getting the 'parameter too long' message. i.e. I was trying to delete all the file that began with program*. There were too many files, so I had to actually cut my search down, to something like program01* and so forth, to avoid the error message. Thanks.. Regards, Bassam

Restore Log!
Hello All, I know what you can monitor the backup process via dsmsched.log, but i'm unable to monitor the restore process that I initiated last night. I'm trying to identify the issue with two similar clients, one restore took 6 hours longer than the other. I was restoring the /spdata filesystem on both workstations. Thanks in advance... Utilizing All My drives
Hello TSM'rs, I have a question. Here's my senario, We backup to disk. Then Copy/Migrate to tape once the backups complete. I have 6 3590B drives. When my copy/migration from disk to tape is running, I only see about two tapes being mounted, thus I'm only using two out of my 6 drives. I have increaded the number MAXPROC to 2, and noticed a considerable change in copy and migration time. My question is 1) What is the max number of proc I can assign with 6 drives? 2) Is there something esle I should also be doing to utilize more drives? your assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks, -bassam nyc
Re: Restore OS of AIX 4.3.3
This is from past experience: (I'm sure this is left unsaid, but you never know). Initially you have to have been backing up the OS filesystems. Once you install the client, assigned the original IP address, highlight the filesystems you need to restore. Once the restore begins, you will be prompted to over-write current files (DO NOT OVER-WRITE) If you over-write it will corrupt you system files (not to mension the ODM entries) and you will have to rebuild. after the restore is complete, you should have your original system back.. regards... -Original Message- From: Yahya Ilyas Sent: Fri 3/15/2002 11:27 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: Subject: Restore OS of AIX 4.3.3 Recently we lost both mirror disks on one of the RS6000, AIX4.3.3 system. I installed base OS, and TSM client and than restored selected files on the new system. How can I restore complete OS? We have TSM server level 4.1.4. I have done complete restore of an HP system by installing base OS on first disk than installing OS on second disk. Than I rebooted from first disk, mounted second disk and restored OS on second disk, after restore was complete I rebooted from second disk. Will this same procedure work on AIX platform. I am told that on AIX platform after restoring OS on different hdisk system will not boot. Re: EXCLUDE Command
Steve, First things first, by using a Domain Option, you're telling TSM to backup everything in that domain, so first remove all the drive except H from your Domain parameter: Is: DOMAIN C: D: F: H: Should be: DOMAIN H: Then use the exclude parameter after the includeL is: DOMAIN C: D: F: H: INCLUDE H:\TOP\*.* EXCLUDE C: D: F: H: Should be: DOMAIN H: EXCLUDE * INCLUDE H:\TOP\*.* This should work!...Good Luck! -bassam -Original Message- From: Steve Green Sent: Tue 2/26/2002 9:32 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: Subject: EXCLUDE Command Hi, I am having real problem with creating a batch file to kick off my backup The batch file is as follows @Echo Off Echo Starting backup... Any ideas? Thanks
