Re: How to restore data from a client that no longer exists...
On a TSM client of the same type of operating system. Update the Nodename to be that of the 'deleted' client and then you can start a TSM session to restore the files from the 'deleted' client to the current system you are on, You can also update the access rights to the 'deleted' client to allow the 'current' client restore the files. Re: Q&A in die ADSML Mailing-List
Gerhard, Try using www.ADSM.org That site will allow you to search all List entries back a few years in one shot. Generally putting the ADSM-L list on a newgroup open us to Spam from email sniffers that run thru the newgroups. The URL http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?ADSM-L and the Logs are sorted by date (or something like that) and you can't easily search all the answers to a specific question. Maybe this Mailing-List ist mirrored to a Newsgroup where alle answers to one question are sorted together ? Any hints ? Have a nice day... -- Gerhard --

We are short on tape drives and we are receiving the following message: ANR5373I Unable to allocate tape drive with device type TAPE36 for tape 276414. Reply C (cancel), R (retry), or W (wait). My question is; should I reply W to wait and then W to wait to the IEF238D message that will be issued from MVS allocation recovery or Should I respond R (retry) and have our automated operator product wait five minutes before a second retry is issued to prevent looping? What do you suggest for the response?

Re: Notes/Domino Agent
Notes backup every Night.. WOW !!! The size of our notes environment about 1TB only allow us to backup the .NSF once week. We do fuzzy backups in the middle of the night so Most of the database are not very active then. The Domino 5 sever has transaction logging. We have the Domino agent but have not installed it yet (Plan to do it in November). The way I understand it works is as the logs fill up and switches to the next log the agent copies the full log to TSM then nulls the transaction log. To restore the database, you would use the last backup, then apply the transaction logs to the database thru the agent, In theory, you should be able to restore the database back to the point of error.
