Try two things: 1) Include in domain in dsm.opt (all maped filespaces) OR 2) dsmc sel (without any agrument) should work, have fun.. -Original Message- From: Gent, Chad E. Re: TSM server doesn't comeup.
Ruksana, which platform are you using? if you are using any unix server trying starting TSM server in foreground, i.e. dsmserv in unix 'dsmserv.exe in Intel, see what errors you get. From the errors you sent, it just seems like client cannot connect to the server which can be number of reasons. Sent me the errors and I will help you further. -Original Message- From: Ruksana Siddiqui [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Mon, July 01, 2002 2:26 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: TSM server doesn't comeup. Re: Adding a second library
Steve, The best way would be to use move data. You can change the destination for the current copygroup to new storage pool before you start moving data. This will give you enough time to move your data while the new backups are sent directly to new storagepool. You can also you nextpool but you might get in loop of data coming in to old pool and then migrated to new pool, if you have lot of data. -Original Message- From: Stephen A. Cochran [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tue, June 25, 2002 6:02 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Adding a second library I've added a second 7337 library to our ADSM system (15 DLT robot with 2 drives). I've got the system seeing the library, and I have a new devclass defined with the new library. What I would like to do is have two of our stgpools (AFS_TAPE_POOL and COPYPOOL) we have defined use this new library, with the others staying in the original library. I can't change the devclass on a stgpool with the update stgpool command, so I'd have to create a new stgpool. What's the best way to get the data in the old stgpool out of that pool into the new pool? Should I just set NEXTpool to point to the new pool and set the migration level to 0%? Then when all the data is moved out of the original pool delete the pool? (This would give the added benefit of reclaiming all wasted tape space at the same time) Steve Cochran Dartmouth College
Re: TSM v4.2.2.5 to v5.1.0.0 upgrade failed (AIX) - resolution
Is this issue only for this specific upgrade, or migration from 4.1 to 5.1 can cause similar problems? It will good to have the APAR number. -Original Message- From: Don France [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Sat, June 22, 2002 7:44 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: TSM v4.2.2.5 to v5.1.0.0 upgrade failed (AIX) - resolution Gretchen, Did you get an APAR number for that problem? I have a customer wanting to install 5.1, will want to forewarn them if they will need to run audit before upgrade. I saw IC28431, but that was for DLT devclass only, resolved at the 4.1.1.0 code level (and it only applied to NT platform). This is an 86% utilized 100 GB database and should run two, if not three days (I hope!). Again the error message was: ANRD iminit.c(820): ThreadId0 Error 8 converting Group.Members to Backup.Groups. Getting clearance from those affected now and will try to run this over the weekend and upgrade next week. Will post audit stats at the end of the process. Gretchen Thiele Princeton University
Re: Higher Priority Node?
I would like to know even one step further, how can I put order of FS backup in a complete machine incremental backup with one schedule (without writing script). i.e. if I have FS a,b and c , I want to do backup of b than a and then c. Arshad -Original Message- From: Eugene Awyong - Singapore [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Mon, May 20, 2002 10:34 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Higher Priority Node? Hi, I was wondering if it would be possible to actually prioritise nodes? As in like when you were halfway doing a backup job and you had to do a restore in between, the restore would then cut short the backup job, and complete its restore job before letting the backup job resume. Similarly, would it actually be possible for a node (say node A) to start a backup job at 6am, then at 2pm when node B comes in and does its backup job, it will 'stop' node A's job and TSM will start to backup all of node B's directories (assuming it is a full FS backup) till say maybe 6pm, after which node A continues its half-done backup job. Reason I'm asking is due to the tight schedule we have for our weekend backups and the availibility of our applications (decreased down-time). I'd appreciate if anyone could let me know if this could be done. Thanks in Advance!
Remote Tape Library
Hi TSMers, Does anyone has experience with DWDM with SAN switches, we want to extend our SAN using IP. We have Gigabit Ethernet connection between sites. The idea is to configure remote tape library for TSM as local device. Thanks, Arshad
Re: tdp r3 and versioning
You will not have any issues with DR if you use the same nodename and same initSID.utl file when connecting with the DR machine. Data that are backed up either by brbackup or brachive are stored as archive objects in TSM database and they are deleted when eligible, thus freeing up the tapes. I don't know of any issues during disaster recovery, when using TDP versioning. The only thing that you should be aware of is either using TDP versioning (and having retain version set to nolimit or ) or TSM versioning only. A little over 8 months ago a problem arose where we could not get the Exchange TDP to install on a Windows 2000 server. After many attempts to install and reinstall the last resort was to completely blow away the server and reinstall everything. We even did a disaster recovery install of Exchange 2000 again just in case anything was wrong with the Exchange installation; thankfully a full server reinstall was not required. Anyway after discussing this problem with the code developers and Microsoft a solution was finally found. Within an Exchange registry key an entry exists which details the full path to the MAD.exe file. What was discovered is that the path to the MAD.exe file was encapsulated with double quotes i.e. file path. After running some debug code from the Tivoli developers and with the assistance of Microsoft this anomaly was highlighted. The double quotes were removed and replaced with single quotes and behold the Exchange TDP worked as it should have 8months ago. So if anybody else is or has experienced this problem don't hesitate to get the developers involved they did a great job in resolving what was a very long and frustrating problem. Happy TSMing Gary

you cannot re-label the tape with data, it will scratch the tape. Use move data and label libvol. Saludos / Regards Arshad Munir Sharif IT Group, Kuwait Oil Company Kuwait.
