Re: CriterionPolicyError for PolicyName 'trademark'?
Hi, I don't have any information about why that specif term is being flagged. Questions about general AdWords policies should be posted to the AdWords forum: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/AdWords As I mentioned previously, if the policy error can be exempted then you can add an exemption request to your operation to allow the keyword to be added. It will then go through a more thorough review process to determine if it meets the policy guidelines. Re: CriterionPolicyError for PolicyName 'trademark'?
Received a CriterionPolicyError for a 'trademark' violation with the trigger 'Sony' on 'operations[29].operand.criterion.text' The 'operations[29].operand.criterion.text' is set to "Sony 5.25 inch Rewritable". I don't see any rules prohibiting brands that are qualified with other generic terms, such as in this case. Moreover, we have plenty of other terms that include "Sony" that are not being flagged. The link from the Terms and Conditions policies page at http://www.google.com/intl/en/permissions/guidelines.html says to "Use a generic term following the trademark, for example: GOOGLE search engine, Google search, GOOGLE web search", which appears to be what we're doing. Is there some other policy at work here that we need to obey? Could it be a regex/matching issue with the numbers '5.25' that immediately follow the term 'Sony'? Any guidance would be great. Thx.
That should be fine according to the trademark policies at http://www.google.com/intl/en/permissions/guidelines.html ? The trademark guidelines say to "Use a generic term following the trademark, for example: GOOGLE search engine, Google search, GOOGLE web search", which appears to be what we're doing? Is there some other policy at work here that we need to obey? Any ideas? Thx. Re: CriterionPolicyError for PolicyName 'trademark'?
Hi, Information about trademark policies is available here: http://adwords.google.com/support/aw/bin/static.py?hl=en&topic=28426&guide=28423&page=guide.cs If the error has the isExemptable set to true than you can create an ExemptionRequest for the keyword that you can attach to the ADD operation: http://code.google.com/apis/adwords/v2009/docs/reference/AdGroupCriterionService.ExemptionRequest.html Best, - Eric Koleda, AdWords API Team On Jul 11, 10:38 pm, ojak wrote: > What causes a CriterionPolicyError for PolicyName 'trademark' and > where are the criteria documented that tell us what to avoid? > > Thanks! -- =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~ Also find us on our blog and discussion group: http://adwordsapi.blogspot.com http://groups.google.com/group/adwords-api =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "AdWords API Forum" group.
