FYI, Cambium is very good at this. Look at the 400 series. 430 would connect
to 450 which gave longer life to the 430s. You didn’t get all the cool
features of the 450, but the clients worked. ePMP is following the same
philosophy. If anyone out there is wanting to try ePMP can hook you up with
some great promotions. I am certified Cambium consultant and have some pretty
cool options for folks new to ePMP.

To be fair by the time Cambium (really Motorola) gave up there was very little
point left in it. Having a 450AP slow down enough to talk to a 2X FSK radio
at 14Mbps meant you might as well not put up a 450AP.We are finding it
painful to have 430SM’s on 450 AP’s for the same reason and are having to pull
those off the network due to the capacity hit on the AP’s. It’s nice that we
can do that gradually, but there is no way I would want to have FSK SM’s on a
450i or 450m AP.

2018-03-12 Thread Justin Wilson
FYI, Cambium is very good at this. Look at the 400 series. 430 would connect
to 450 which gave longer life to the 430s. You didn’t get all the cool
features of the 450, but the clients worked. ePMP is following the same
philosophy. If anyone out there is wanting to try ePMP can hook you up with
some great promotions. I am certified Cambium consultant and have some pretty
cool options for folks new to ePMP.

3000 is backwards compatible with ALL ePMP radios including Elevate. So all
existing Force 110, Force 200 radios will connect to ePMP 3000 and still have
some improvement on latency and throughput without using the new Force 300 CPE

Doubles throughput if all clients are Force 300 AC but you can realize
improvements if only some of the clients are switched like your heavy users.
They will also release an update so the Force 300 CPE will connect to existing
1000 and 2000 AP's. So instead of 110 Mbps aggregate in 20mhz channel, you can
realize up to 250 Mbps in 20mhz channel with 3000 and Force 300 CPE.

3000 is 5ghz only, not 2.4 at this time.

Force 300 DOES work on epmp 1k and 2k. It will require a firmware update in the
next 1-2 months but it absolutely WILL connect to the 1k and 2k AP's. That's
been confirmed a few times already in Cambium forums and partner docs.

Re: [AFMUG] Epmp 3000

2018-03-07 Thread Josh Reynolds
I hate this claim, because that's not how mu-mimo works. It sacrifices
chains to talk to those multiple APs, so a 2x2 AP goes to 1x1 for 2 clients
@ 1x1. Same amount of bandwidth used.

Re: [AFMUG] Epmp 3000

2018-03-07 Thread Chuck McCown
They recommend that you use the Cambium 4 port antenna. (of course)

It will work with others but you will lose performance.

You will get higher order modulations and some increase of throughput but not
the full benefit of MUMIMO

So, yeah, you can do that. But they pointed out the cost of climbing the tower
and installing the radio is going to be there, a new antenna is not that much
more.

Are these things going to require a 4 port antenna, or can we just slap them on
to the antennas we already have up?

That doesn't speak to efficiency. If you treat spectrum like a
commodity, you will run out of it.

Re: [AFMUG] Epmp 3000

2018-03-07 Thread Darin Steffl
3000 is backwards compatible with ALL ePMP radios including Elevate. So all
existing Force 110, Force 200 radios will connect to ePMP 3000 and still
have some improvement on latency and throughput without using the new Force
300 CPE

Doubles throughput if all clients are Force 300 AC but you can realize
improvements if only some of the clients are switched like your heavy
users. They will also release an update so the Force 300 CPE will connect
to existing 1000 and 2000 AP's. So instead of 110 Mbps aggregate in 20mhz
channel, you can realize up to 250 Mbps in 20mhz channel with 3000 and
Force 300 CPE.

3000 is 5ghz only, not 2.4 at this time.
