Hi!
The rode seems to be a bit clumsy too.
But i have ordered the shure mv88 mic.
Dane recommended it a year ago or so.
I have his mail here so i actually got my inspiration from that.
Blessings.

Rode has the IXY mic. It goes into the lightning port. Zoom also made 1
but the thing with that 1 is that it only allows you to record DVD
quality. You can only go up to 48 KHZ 16 bits with it. The Rode 1 though
not adjustable to 120 degrees like the Zoom does let you go to ful 96

HI,
The really good thing about this mic is the super cool settings in the
accompanying app. All kinds of nice eqs and other sound optimization settings.
Infact you can try the Motif app without even having the microphone.

Hi!
Ok, that’s the one i was thinking of.
I am not really fond of recording with a pair of bluetooth mics that might
loose the connecthin in the middle of the recording.
Also bluetooth is wireles and compressed which isn’t something i like.
But maybe they are recording with lossless streaming so i wont say i buy them
in the future.

Re: [all-audio] Microphone suggestion?

2020-04-15 Thread Georgina Joyce
Hello,

I found this post very interesting but could not find the recommended set.
Google and Amazon came up with Sennheiser products like this one for £79.

Sennheiser is shaping the Future of Audio – a vision built on a 70-year history
of innovation and a continued drive for excellence that is woven into our
company’s DNA and culture. Around the world, our employees share this passion
in the pursuit of the perfect sound, creating products that exceed expectations
and set new benchmarks in audio.

Sennheiser Ambeo Smart Headset
Looking at the Ambeo Smart Headset, you see the world’s first intuitive, mobile
recording headset for immersive 3D sound. It is fitted with microphones that
capture sound just like your ears do. Thus, this unique headset produces
fascinating spatial recordings. For sound experiences that make you feel as if
you are there and listening live, which can be enjoyed with any pair of
headphones connected to stereo equipment. This makes the Ambeo Smart Headset
ideal for vloggers and other creators, who want to dazzle their audience with
audio just as immersive as their pictures. The Sennheiser Ambeo Smart Headset –
which is also a full-fledged headset, delivering high-quality Sennheiser sound
– is for use with iOS devices only.

Did you know? The Ambeo trademark represents an increasing number of Sennheiser
audio products and technologies for the entire audio signal chain – from
capture to mixing and processing to reproduction – that turn sound into a truly
immersive experience.
 Unique 3D recording capabilities

 Immersive audio on every headphone

 Seamless iOS integration

Unique 3D recording capabilities
For the first time ever, as an owner of an iOS device you can create videos
with a high-quality binaural audio track just by wearing a headset. Binaural
means, the two omnidirectional microphones located in the earpieces of the
Ambeo Smart Headset pick up the sound just like your ears do. The Smart Slider
allows microphone sensitivity adjustment to optimise recording performance in
loud environments like concerts.

Immersive audio on every headphone
Thanks to its binaural microphone setup, audio tracks made with the Ambeo Smart
Headset virtually put the listener in the place where the sound was recorded –
be it a noisy street corner, a ride through a stunning countryside, a road
trip, a concert event, and more. These authentic spatial sound experiences can
be enjoyed at playback with any headphones on any stereo-capable device.

Seamless iOS integration
Featuring Apogee’s proprietary Soft Limit and mic preamp plus precisely tuned
A/D and D/A conversion, as well as a Lightning connector, the MFi-certified
Ambeo Smart Headset integrates seamlessly with Apple iOS devices.

Just plug and create. An Android version will be available at a later date.

 Situational Awareness

 A full-fledged, easy-to-use headset

 Dedicated app for additional functions

Situational Awareness
The earpieces of the Ambeo Smart Headset possess a unique feature: Situational
Awareness. It offers two functions, which can be controlled using the rocker
switch. You can either activate the Transparent Hearing function to fade the
outside noise into your personal programme, which lets you stay safe when you
are on the street. Or you can deploy the active noise cancellation, blocking
out your acoustic environment to enjoy your music undisturbed. Situational
Awareness also works when you are recording or making a call and can, of
course, also be turned off.

A full-fledged, easy-to-use headset
Beside its unique 3D audio capabilities, the Ambeo Smart Headset is also a
high-quality headset, offering intuitive handling and great Sennheiser sound. A
special ear-hook design combines low structure-borne noise and ultimate wearing
comfort with an extremely stable in-ear fit. The headset’s lightweight in-line
remote with an additional built-in microphone optimised for speech makes taking
calls and voice-controlling your iOS device a breeze.

Dedicated app for additional functions
With a special dedicated app the smart slider of the Ambeo Smart Headset can be
programmed with various functions (default function is mic sensitivity
control), adapting it to your individual requirements.

Is this the product you were recommending?

I recommend you continue saving until you get to $300, then buy yourself
a set of Ambeo binaural earbud microphones. They're the best for the
money, you can use any application that can record using other devices
besides just the iPhone's microphone, and they make fantastic
recordings. The Hooke Audio binaurals are cheaper, but they're
Bluetooth, and their implementation of high-end audio over Bluetooth is
frankly terrible, with lots of dropouts and disconnects. You'll be
instantly disappointed in them.

This will annoy you, but I figure if it happens once, it can happen
again. Recently, the Ambeos were offered for one hundred pounds in the
UK. Some folks I know who didn't own them yet took advantage of this by
contacting UK friends, sending them the equivalent of one hundred pounds
(about $140) plus a few more dollar for shipping, and their friend took
care of getting them a set. So, just remember, what goes around, comes
around. If it happens again, you'll probably hear about it and will take
advantage of it. In the meantime, keep up the good saving work and
you'll have a set soon enough.
