(I don't have clue about building on Windows) Anyway, afais we take the GPL option, so we need to either ship the source of the dictionaries anyway or *we* (we are distributing it) have to have a offer for three years to ship the dictionaries sourcecode. So your licensing argument is also questionable. Currently, we don't really follow the GPL (imho), although we probably can get the code from Björn directly and give it to a requestor, but.. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. This problem does not exist in OpenOffice.org Writer 1.1.5. Steps to duplicate: 1.Open attached file "AutoSpellCheckTestCase.odt" in OpenOffice.org Writer 2.x 2.Scroll to the bottom of the file and start typing directly after the last sentence So far I have found 2 workarounds to this issue in Writer 2.x: 1.Turn off AutoSpellCheck 2.Create a blank line(press enter 2 times) and continue typing. We use OpenOffice.org Writer for transcription and we frequently have continuous paragraphs that are longer that 5 pages in length. I have installed OOo_2.3.1_LinuxIntel_install_en-US.tar.gz on Linux AMD-64 machine(Linux 2.6.18-53.el5xen #1 SMP Wed Oct 10 16:48:44 EDT 2007 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux)as an administrator. Then after installing the rpms, I opened up the soffice application . When I change the Java to IBM Java6.0(Tools->options->java) and open File->Wizards->Web page, an error message will pop up saying "Openoffice.org requires a Java runtine environment to perform this task. The selected JRE is defective. Please select another version or install a new JRE and select it under Tools - Options - Openoffice.org - Java". I could also see the following output on console "[Java framework]sunjavaplugin.so could not load Java runtime library: file:///usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-ibm-1.6.0.0/jre/bin/classic/libjvm.so" One more thing I would like to inform you that openoffice is working fine on other Linux platform like Linux IA-32 (Linux 2.4.21-37.ELsmp #1 SMP Wed Sep 7 13:28:55 EDT 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux) I suspect that the OO application is looking for the sunjavaplugin.so which is not found, does it need any configuration settings? but how come this is working fine with other platforms with IBM java6. I would be grateful if you provide me any desired solution to make it work. Please reply me at the earliest. [sw-issues] [Issue 85523] large file; images misalig ned; out of position
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=85523 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Jan 24 23:50:40 + 2008 --- New development: This evening just for grins I downloaded and installed Sun's ODF Add-In to allow MS Office to Import/Export ODF files (OOo files). The amount of image mislocation in OOo was markedly LESS using the Export odf from Word on my 33 Meg test file. It would still be a pretty fair annoyance to repair, but ... it would be possible to manually repair that document. There was only one place, around page 25 or so, where the image movement put several tabled images one on top fo the other haphazardly. There were still other instances of images, particularly those at the bottom of the pages, to be moved down, outisde the confines of its page but that may be a result of the initial haphazardness I just mentioned. That's the good news because that would cover nearly ALL of the Word files I have with a few notable exceptions. The bad news is, with the 53 Meg file, the image trashing was still substantial enough to be extremely annoying to repair manually. To synopsize though, it at least appears that the Sun Add-in allows files quite a bit larger than 10 Meg to be successfully transferred to OOo format. I have a LOT Of those. But, for the few in the 50 Meg and up range, I would be willing to further breatk those up into smaller files if it were my only choice. Going forward I would just never again allow a file to get larger than 10 Meg. It's a workable work-around if nothing else. 2nd of the "two related issues" still not posted; awaiting resolution of mru contact details. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 85517] Word import breaks chapter numbering
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=85517 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Jan 24 22:53:13 + 2008 --- As an aside, this problem nearly caused me some humiliation because I was about to complain about the seemingly broken numbering in a client's document, before I remembered having seen this kind of problem before with imported Word documents... In this case, I didn't even want to edit the document, but only read it. So even if chapter 5 will cause problems in Word, what's really nasty is that the numbering of chapter 6 is different from what Word displays here. I wonder why Word seems to continue numbering from the "hard set" number given to chapter 6, while OpenOffice continues with a different number? Is there any way the importer in OpenOffice could cause the same behaviour? I'd assume this is a considerable problem for interoperability with Word, given that even I know a number of people who experienced the same problem. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [framework-issues] [Issue 20065] Q-PCD Easier way to manage layers
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=20065 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Jan 24 21:32:12 + 2008 --- OK, it is wy later now (Target milestone = "OOo Later")... might be time to reconsider the layers management in OO Draw. Has been 4 years since first posted about version 1.0.0. Not much has improved on the layers tabs in 2.3. It really can be a pain working with lots of layers: 1) The user cannot just grab a layer tab and move it to reorder layers 2) In fact, the user cannot re-order the layers at all! There is no method. 3) The names of the layers are supposed to appear blue when the layer is not visible. Most of the time it just doesn't work- they are not blue. I open documents with non-visible layers all the time and the tabs are not blue- but if I "modify" them and change nothing and click on "OK", that ONE layer tab will temporarily have blue text. 4) Having to turn on/off visibility of several layers is very time consuming, you have to double click on the tab, wait for it to appear, change the visibility, then "OK", then do it all again. Why not have a right-click on the tab with a checkmark for visibility and printability? 5) Tabs should be color coded for visibility/print/lock. For example, blue text if not visible. Red background if locked. Yellow outline if not printable. It might also be nice to have a separate, multi row/column dialog for controlling all layers at once, as CJ suggested (under view->layers). (Compare to the way the GIMP layer dialog works.) Just some ideas! - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Copying content one by one cell: works 2. copying a group of cells: impossible When you have tested this, you will find, that you only will get the nested table into a writer-table-cell - taht looks really strange. Btw: If you try to do the same with tables within writer-html, everything works fine. Martin - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [framework-issues] [Issue 15229] Trouble with OOo instances on seperate displays
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=15229 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Jan 24 17:55:04 + 2008 --- I've just run into this today, as follows: 1)My desktop machine happens to have a copy of OOo running, with a document open. 2)I'm sitting at my laptop, and receive a word document by email. I scp it to the desktop, and open it by running oowriter over SSH.(*). This normally displays the document fine on my laptop's screen. 3)In this instance, the oowriter command simply exited, without appearing to do anything (and of course, the document opened on the wrong display). As a minimum workaround, can I suggest that if the startup script detects an existing Ooo process, but on a different $DISPLAY, it should print a message to stderr. I understand the reason why the document opens in the existing process, but the principle of "least surprise" would strongly suggest printing a message. As well as stderr, display this message (on the expected $DISPLAY) via xdialog (or kdialog, or zenity, whichever is installed). A suitable message might be: "You have tried to open the file $DOCUMENT on display $DISPLAY (on host $HOST). However, an instance of OpenOffice is already running on that machine (on display $DISPLAY2), so this file has been opened in the existing OOo process. [If you want it to open on this $DISPLAY, please close the other document. killall -15 oowriter will force an auto-save]" #is that actually true about killall -15? I hope so, but I haven't checked:-) (*)Why do I do it this way? The desktop is much faster, I have gigabit ethernet, and the laptop has an issue that clicking the file menu in Ooo usually causes X to hang. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. For example, assigning the number format "年"M"月"D"日" before entering the string will work. The number parser should consider the separators defined in locale data (LongDateDaySeparator, LongDateMonthSeparator, LongDateYearSeparator) in yet other contexts than it does now. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
