(3.1.1-14_i386.deb) 1. Create a file 'text.odt' 2. "ln text.odt text.tmp" 3. "oowriter text.tmp" only opens an empty document A quick test with OOO320_m12_native_packed-1_de.9483 for i386 didn't show the problem, so might be fixed with 3.2.0. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Test what happens with other files (.ods, .odg) after having removed their extension. That would be then a Framework issue. Anyway when reporting *here* you have test and check that the issue happens in our version: "I use Debian testing. I would not want to use anything from another source" doesn't hold. Untill you have found out what makes the glitch on your system with the native version, closing as "worksforme". - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I have Debian testing installed without packages from any other sources on several computers, they all display this problem. By the way, I find that I cannot now load backup files either unless I change the extension from .bak. How can I go about diagnosing this further? To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=104706 --- Additional comments from j...@openoffice.org Sun Sep 6 08:17:15 + 2009 --- This first came to my attention because I use OpenOffice examine and compare .config files. I would use the OpenOffice open dialogue, navigate to /usr/src/linux-source-2.6.30, type in the File name: .config (because hidden files are not shown in the dialogue) and it would open (with the usual dialogue about ASCII Filter Options). Now this does not work unless I make a copy of the file and rename it with a .txt extension. To reproduce: Paste some text into a new page using Gedit and save it as a plain text file called . In OpenOffice, navigate to the file using the File>open dialogue, click on the file name, click on open and all that happens is that the dialogue disappears. Or, find the file using Nautilus, right click on the file name, left click on "Open with OpenOffice.org Writer" and all that happens is that the open dialogue disappears. Save a copy of the file as , either of the above actions opens the file with a difference that opening the file from Nautilus brings up the ASCII Filter Options dialogue, which does not happen using the OpenOffice File>open dialogue. Having now opened the file in OpenOffice.org writer, save it in ODF format as . It can be opened normally using either method. Using Natilus, save a copy of this file and rename it . OpenOffice will not now open it, in exactly the same way as with . - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
