No, I am not joking... we were talking about the fixed date field which Ms Word
does not suppert.
I never put Word's capability of a variable date in question.

Man, are you joking with me? Of course you can have a variable date in a MS 
Word document. I'm doing this since several years.

That might be true,  but we cannot add a message for every feature in OO which

This is not clear for me as a user. I select Insert -> Field Command ->  
Date. I do not care if this is a fixed or variable date format. I just want  
to have the date field. Are we maybe not talking about the same thing? I  
only use a German version, so maybe I have not translated the "field" term
