[AMRadio] 10 meters

2010-06-20 Thread Bernie Doran
yep, the Higher bands are open, ten yesteray evening had more beacons than I
have ever heard. But, I have no idea what sort of operation is going on!!
heard no AM so went to ssb, worked a fla station that would not say more
than five or six words, then nothing. another w2ggi, was calling cq or qrz,
he would come back with w8r?? your 5x9 missed your name and qth, then next
exchange would be thanks, qrz!!. I hope that as more do move up to ten
this sillyness will abate. Yes, I do undestand that some may be new and
not comfortable, so I do try and draw them out with the usual questions,
antenna, gear, weather, what are you hearing etc etc. but it just does not
seem to work on ten. Bernie W8RPW

Hi Bernie,

Maybe it was just not good into your location, I worked a bunch of folks
yesterday on 10cw, psk, and olivia. Made several contacts on 10 ssb. Called
CQ on 29.0 AM several times but didn't hear anyone. Maybe today, though!

You are being harassed by a nest of freebanders Bernie. Don't even
answer them if they don't give a full, proper ham call. I have had

I just finished a 20 minute plus qso with Dave, W2VW, in NJ on 29.0.

He's now talking with a station in NC.

I also found 2 other qsos on 29.010 and 29.020.

There's room for many more, so come on up!

[AMRadio] 10 Meters? Try 20

2007-05-21 Thread DOXEMF
It was Friday or Saturday early afternoon when I was listening to the Special
Event Station from Indianapolis Raceway on 20 meters real strong S9+, Q5, or
whatever that a booming Station from Sweden checked in with close to a 10 over
signal. No fading at all.
Most of the other stations checking in were considerably weaker with a few
exceptions.
Indianapolis was strong and clear for well over an hour and about the only AM
on 20.

There was an apparent 6m remote base connected to a UHF repeater, also

Called CQ almost continuously between 2330 and 2340 today (Saturday)
 and heard nobody.

I went back to 10 CW and 5's were strong, I heard a weak KH6 (think
it was KH6RZ ), and several K6's were heard (also weak).

 I'll try again tomorrow.

Re: [AMRadio] 10 Meters

2006-05-28 Thread Peter Markavage
Both 6 and 10 meters were hot Saturday evening here in NJ. 6M SSB
stations were heard and worked all the way up to 50.25, mostly from the
central and southern states. Could not raise anyone on 6M AM. On 10M,
heard several AM QSO's after 8PM EDST, mostly 5 stations working 4's and
3's. Heard a few SSB stations but most of the activity was down in the CW
section for the contest. Most, if not all of this activity, probably was
attributed to Sporadic E ionization. MUF never got anywhere near 28 MHz.

Both the W1OJ repeater near Boston, and the one in New York are pounding
into my Mississippi qth on 29.620 at 2050Z.

That said, I'm monitoring 29.0, and have called a few cq's with no results.

Called CQ quite a few times between 2230 and 2300 today (Saturday).
No results, but in between I worked quite a few CW stations on 10M in
the CQ WW PX contets, so 10 is open from here (Central PA) to parts of
the midwest.

I'll try again around 2330 or so today on 29.0; hopefully 10 will
still be a bit open.
